Subtle Change in Curriculum

It is a good day.

Excited about this year, and we are not afraid to make changes...
Just to ensure you get the best of our service.

This change is needed, due to observations from the past.

We are splitting the Starter Course-Skirt into two parts....
Pattern drafting

This change is necessary,  as we observed that some novice to sewing (some maybe with a little experience,  or some forms of online learning, with little or no practical experience), come to us, preferring to start at the bodice class.

Although, when we receive inquiries, we explain,  what each class entail.
It seems,  it is not well understood, or the prospect is trying to reduce cost, thus opting out from the class which should be his or her foundation and benefit.

This results in branching outside the curriculum,  when we find out that students who ought to be grounded in certain basics, find it had to understand or execute simple task.... thus increasing the time frame for the course.

Henceforth,  candidate needing to start at the Bodice course, or any other higher level course...would first go through our test, before proceeding with the course, after the test is passed.

If the test is failed, prospects would be advised to do the Starter Course, after which... can proceed to do the course of choice, or continue to the Skirt Variation Course.

The two parts of the starter course are:
  • Starter course: Sewing and Pattern Drafting Course
  • Skirt variation course

The Starter: Sewing and Pattern Drafting Course covers an introduction to sewing and pattern drafting,  teaching students the basics. We cover
  • How to pedal the machine
  • Sew straight, zig-zag, and curvy lines.
  • Calibration: Understanding the tape measure
  • Closure: Zippers
  • Understanding pattern drafting instructions: Skirts.

... and lots more

This class is important for persons with little or no hands on experience, who would prefer to start at the bodice (because of their exposure to skirts).

Although we advice that the skirt variation class be taken, we do not force it.

It must be noted that the Bodice course focuses on garments that extends from the shoulder to the waist, as we assume that you are knowledgeable in what happens from the waist downward (skirt).

Skirt variation course
In this course,  we would be using the block made in the Starter course. We would teach you how to manipulate the block to get new skirt styles (interesting right?).

We'll look at how to draft flared skirts, including A–line flares and bias flares (mermaid skirt). You'll also learn to make pieces skirt, gathered and pleated skirts—specifically inverted box pleats, and knife pleats....
...and lots more.

The course fee for each of the course is 30,000 naira, with an additional refundable fee, which is dependent on the class option of choice (10,000 naira for saturday classes and 5,000 naira for other options).

This covers damages  and unnecessary extensions to the course. It is paid at the beginning of the course, and refunded at the end of the course
