Why is a Zip Important?
Zips make it easier to wear fitted garments.
In most fitted outfits, a zip is essential, except when using stretch fabrics, which naturally expand to fit the body. That means if you plan to sew structured, fitted designs, you must master zip installation!
Before You Start Installing a Zip...

You also need to be comfortable, sewing with a sewing allowance—this is key to a neat and professional finish!
@ooti_kano_fashionschool Put enough allowance inside my clothes o. Have you heard the above statement before? What is implied is ... seam allowance. Before a fabric is cut, the seam allowance is decided on; this is the distance between the edge of the fabric and the seam. Following the seam allowance while sewing gives a better chance of having a finished garment that will be the wearer's measurements and also fit well (if other factors have been careful followed). It is therefore important that a beginner learn how to sew, following specific measurements (allowance ).
So that is the process of sewing a zip, into a seam. Practice Makes Perfect!
