To create a stunning garment from a piece of fabric, you must first understand how the fabric behaves and analyze the design you have in mind.  This knowledge is crucial before making any cuts, on the fabric. There are three primary approaches to cutting fabric: Freehand Cutting: This method involves making chalk markings directly on the fabric based on the wearer’s measurements and the chosen style. Pattern Drafting: This involves creating a basic fit on paper, which is then manipulated on paper, to achieve a the chosen style. The result is called a pattern, which is later used to cut the fabric  Draping: This is a technique used to create a three-dimensional pattern for a chosen style, by pinning fabric onto a dress form or mannequin.
